Sales = # of Customers * Avg Sales per customer. So metrics like:

  1. Conversion ratio (visitor -> customer) increase will mean we will have more # of customers
  2. Avg Order Size increase will mean that avg sales per customer will go up too

Check out the Digital Marketing measurement model by Avinash Kaushik. It’s a good framework to come up with success metrics.
